A culmination of my high school experience through self-exploration, a global pandemic, and the rise of my independance

Capstone: Explorations in

High school

Freshman Year

A large majority of my time freshman year was spent dedicated to performing with the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Marching Band and keeping to myself. I took inspiration from the structured and geometric elements of the uniforms.

Sophomore YEar

Growing up, the expression of my gender varied widely and many of the pieces that held importance to me no longer aligned with my identity by the time I entered high school. Taking those pieces, I created a patchwork textile that explores texture, graphic, and gender-free silhouette with zero waste.

Junior YEar

Entering junior year in 2020, much of my references were influenced by the pandemic and isolation I experienced during the time. I leaned towards inspirations of the atomic age and designs of the retro future while working with textiles that would be easy to disinfect.

Working with latex textiles on a home sewing machine was difficult but allowed me to get inspired by creating my own textiles with unconventional materials

Senior YEar

Originally designed to fit my best friend of all of grade school, this dress was made as a love letter to our relationship and their relationship to their body.

The design was inspired by sculptures and paintings of ancient Greek goddesses and seeks to balance masculine and feminine figures. Bronze embellishments at the shoulders and gather add interest and work as counter-weights for the backless pattern.
